Pheasant Tail Nymph Swap 2001 | Swapmeister: Rick Zieger Start: May 2001 |
This swap was announced in May 2001. Rick asked for pheasant tail nymphs. A tiny species well known among fly fishers for several years. Frank Sawyer invented this pattern in the 60th. Although we tie today this fly on a nymph style hook - long shank one - Sawyer tied his version on a hook with a short shank. Cove modified the pattern - he removed the tail and wrapped the abdomen down the hook bend. Well - since then many variations of this productive pattern have been invented. Therefore we have in this swap a huge variety of different nymphs. Thanks a lot to Rick who hosted the swap and had the great idea. And here are the flies: |
