Tie in the foam body upside down and backwards at the 3/4 point of the hook. Tie in the peacock herl and the CDC feather. Wrap the peacock feather to the exe and tie off. Wrap the CDC feather, hackle style to the eye and tie off. Pull the foam body over the top of the hook and make a wrap at 1/3 of the foam body. Bring the wrap to the eye of the hook and tie off remaining portion of foam body. Trim and cement head. Pull down CDC feather and trim to gap of hook. Push the remaining fibers out to sit perpendicular to the body. Trim fibers in underbody so that peacock herl shows through. Place indicator paint on foam body.

Comments from Troy about his fly:

Besides being a fun and easy fly to tie this fly is also very effective. When watching beetles tread water I noticed that they all had one thing in common. They would kick like mad while rarely breaking the skim of the water. I have experimented with many materials to give patterns to try and imitate that leg kicking look and have found that the CDC feathers perform the best. The high oil concentration makes the CDC feather stay above the water. Yet they are very easily moved by current and make the appearance of a beetle treading water. The indicator is very useful in low light conditions but can be scraped off it seems to be more of a hindrance. I can't count how many fish I have caught on this pattern and I would highly recommend it for spring creeks or areas with grassy banks.
