Sparkle and Glow Beetle
Materials List (Besides hooks and thread):
Craft Foam.
Glow-in-the-dark fabric paint
Irridescent film.
Contact cement. I use 3M’s 77
Peacock herl.
Rubber legs or Ostrich herl
Preparing the foam:
Paint one side with fabric paint. Let dry.
After the paint is dry, I spray the other side
of the foam with contact cement. I then spray
the film and let the cement dry for a few minutes.
Bring the the film and the foam together. If you’re
careful you won’t have too many wrinkles. Now
you can cut out the beetle bodies.
Tying Steps:
At the bend on the hook tie in foam painted side up.
Tie on the peacock herl and wrap.
Tie in the legs
Fold the foam forward and tie right behind the eye.
Wrap the thread back about the width of the hook eye.
Fold the foam back and tie it down.
