Grey Midge Emerger tied by Stu Booth from California, USA |

Tying instructions Insert black bead on the hook. Secure thread to the hook near the bead and wind it back to 1/4 down the bend. Tie in short piece of silver wire. Form thin body with thread. Spiral wrap silver wire to form body segments. Tie in two strands of Flashaboo and fold over to form sweptback wings. Cut wings to about ½ of body length. Dub a small thorax right behind the bead with fine black Antron dubbing. Whip finish with a few turns right behind the bead. You’re now off and running. I frequently fish this fly in a two fly rig in combination with another emerger or a Griffith’s Gnat for trout in high Sierra lakes. Enjoy! | |
