Tying instructions: Start at the eye and wind back 1/3 of the hookshank. Tie in the goldwire and wind back to the hookbend. Wind the thread back 1/2 the shank, rib and tie in the wire. Dub the thread and form a little ball of dubbing but leave enough room for hackle and a quite big head. Tie in the hackle and wind 3 - 5 turns. Make a head which is bigger than normal and whipfinish. Soeren about his fly: This pattern was originally designed by the swedish mastertier Lennart Bergqvist who presented it in his book "Flytying in my way" ("Flugbindning på mitt sätt", Arvika, 1990, pp158 - 159). He prefers black body, thorax and ribbing with grizzly hackle. I have made some minor changes which has given me good results. Fish it dead drift with a little floatant on the hackle and thorax (not on the body). | |
